IIM Ahmedabad Confers Young Alumni Achievers Award
The Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A)
on Sunday announced the six winners of the Young Alumni Achievers Award 2019. The winners include the head of Southeast Asia for the Boston Consulting Group (BCG)
and the reader of the Physics University of Cambridge.
This being the fifth edition of the awards which started in the year 2015 to recognize the awards that started in the year 2015 to recognize the outstanding contribution by the alumni under the age of 45 in their respective field of choice. As per IIM-A officials, the awards were conferred in three categories. There were no awards in the media and the entertainment industry and the public services categories in this year.
Sumit Jalan (PFP 2002), the managing director, co-head of the investment banking and capital markets, Credit Suisse, India, Vaishali Rastogi (PGP 1997), senior partner and the managing director, head of the southeast Asia, BCG and Viraj Sawhney (PGP 2000), managing director, Warburg Pincus, India , were awarded in the corporate leadership category, Pranay Agarwal (PGP 1998). CEO Fractal Analytics and Srikanth Velamakanni (PGP 1998), group CEO, Fractal Analytics, were awarded into the entrepreneurship category and Dr.Suchitra Sebastian (PGP 1997), reader in the Physics at the University of Cambridge, UK was awarded for her academic achievements.
Prog. Errol D’Souza, director, IIM-A said the careers of these aspirational individuals are the role models for the IIM-A students. The formal ceremony would take place at IIM-A at 6 pm on Sunday.
“The award is a recognition that the quest is never over. From business to physics, IIM-A shaped my journey. It pushed me to take risks and to fly the nest,” said Dr. Sebastian, winner in academics category.
Vaishali Rastogi, the winner in the corporate leadership category, said, "IIM-A stint enabled her so as to gain the exposure, build confidence and provide the foundation that which stayed with her forever. I still remember the innumerable debates with fellow students, that really pushes your critical thinking, force you to come out of the shell and learn to at least cope - if not enjoy - class participation,” she said.
It was also the double delight for the founders of the Fractal Analytics as the batch mates and the partners Agarwal and Velamakanni received the awards for the entrepreneurship. “This is the award is a validation of the hard work, commitment and the belief of everyone that is working or has worked at Fractal. Srikanth and I are honored to receive this award on behalf of everyone at Fractal. The skills we picked up the during the two years of the IIMA have come in incredibly handy at the stage of our journey.” said Agarwal.
