After the successful launch of Chandrayaan-2, Human Resource & Development Ministry (MHRD) has declared to launch online courses in Aerospace Engineering
. The courses will be available for the fellow students on the online portal & app, SWAYAM, which is a programme initiated by the Govt. Of India.
On 22nd July, the authorities tweeted “ISRO will go ‘back to the moon’ today. Learn Aerospace Engineering with Swayam, who knows, if you are a part of the journey the next time.”
The online portal will be providing various courses on designing, manufacturing and maintenance of spacecraft, aircraft, missiles in aerospace engineering.
Under this initiative, IITs will also provide new courses. IIT Kanpur
will start ‘Aircraft stability and control’
course with a duration of 3 months, ‘Design of fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles’
course for 2 months & ‘Introduction to rocket propulsion’
course for 3 months. IIT Bombay
will start a 3-month long course on ‘Introduction to aerospace engineering/flight’
mostly focusing on the basics of aerospace engineering. ‘Vibration and structural dynamics’
course will be provided by IIT Kharagpur
