XLRI began by offering courses for management and trade unions in 1949 before setting up a two-year, full-time program in industrial welfare in 1953.[2] In 1955 it took on the name Xavier Labor Relations Institute, and became India's oldest business management school. The Jesuit-managed school offers numerous programs: a full-time, 2-year, post-graduate program in Business Management, Personnel Management, & Industrial Relations (renamed Human Resources Management in 2011); Global Business Management; a 15-month, full-time, General Management program (PGDM-GM); a doctoral fellow program (FPM); and several executive education programs including a three-years, part-time programme in Business Management for Working Executives and Business Owners.

The Director is Fr. E. Abraham, the Dean of Academics is Ashis Kumar Pani, and Fr. S. George, S.J., is the Dean of Administration. The Associate Dean of programs is Santanu Sarkar, Associate Dean of Student Affairs is Fr Antony Uvari and Associate Dean of Corporate Programs is M.G. The placement drive for PGDM (GM), XLRI's 15 months MBA programme, for the class graduating May 2017, was completed on a winning note. The batch comprised a total of 117 students, comprising of a healthy mix of core and service sector firms augmented by an active interest from start-ups gave rise to a dynamic placement process. The mean work experience of the batch was pegged at 6.6 years which clearly indicated the industry trend of welcoming experienced professionals who were enhanced by management theory. The engagement process with the recruiting partners saw majority of previous recruiters extending recruitment year on year, along with new recruiters showing interest in our program.

The response from the industry was overwhelming, with the likes of JPMC, ZS Associates, Microsoft, Genpact, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, Oracle taking part in the recruitment process. The rolling placements started in November 2016 and multiple roles were offered to the class of 2017 including Associate VP, Business Analyst, Consultant, Deputy General Manager, Senior Manager, Director, Vice President. The roles were offered for functions such as IT/ITES, Strategy, Manufacturing, Banking, Consulting, Operations, Marketing, Sales/Business development, Supply Chain, Quality assurance, and Analytics space.

XAT 2019: Exam Date Released, Online application starts from August 20

XAT 2019 Exam notification has been released. The Xavier Aptitude Test will be conducted by the Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur and the score will be used by more than 150 institutions for admission. The exam will be conducted on January 6, 2019 (Sunday). The online application process for XAT 2019 will commence from August 20 to November 30, 2018. Post this time period, applicants have to pay an extra Rs. 300/- to submit their XAT application forms.

New Changes brought to the exam this year:

  • The application fee has been revised from Rs. 1650/- to Rs. 1700
  • The total duration of XAT 2019 has been reduced from 3:35 hours to 3 hours.
  • Essay writing section has been removed.
  • Agartala has been removed from the test centre list. So, the exam will be conducted across India in 46 cities instead of 47.

XAT 2019: Application process, Changed Exam pattern

Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI), Jamshedpur has announced that XAT 2019 exam will be held on 6th January 2019 with a changed exam pattern. And registration will start on Monday, August 20, 2018. 

XAT is the second largest MBA/PGDM entrance exam after CAT. XLRI has been conducting XAT on behalf of XAMI for more than the last 60 years at All India level.

XAT 2019 Eligibility Criteria:

Qualification: Completed Minimum 3 Years Bachelor’s Degree or in the Final Year of Bachelor’s Degree

Age: No Age Restriction

XAT 2019 Exam Pattern:

XLRI has changed exam pattern for XAT 2019.  XAT 2019 will be conducted without “Essay Writing Test” as a computer-based test. The test duration will also be for three hours instead of three and a half hours. 

XAT Exam pattern will consist of 4 sections instead of earlier 5. The first 3 sections (Verbal and Logical Ability; Decision Making; Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation) with Multiple choice questions (MCQs) will determine your merit while in last 10 minutes you are supposed to solve the 25 GK questions.

XAT 2018 Exam analysis:
XAT 2018 was conducted on January 7, 2018. In 2018, for the first time ever the entrance test was conducted in online mode. Apart from this, it was mandatory for candidates to submit the essay writing question in online mode only. Since this was the first time XAT was conducted in online mode, therefore many candidates reported several technical problems where some could not operate their computer system while some reported their system shut down during the essay writing test that caused them to write their answers again. There were also cases where a few test centers canceled the exam.
XAT 2018 exam was divided into two parts. The first part comprised of Decision Making, Verbal and Logical Ability, and Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation. And the second part comprised General Knowledge and Essay Writing Test. The overall difficulty level of the XAT 2018 exam was higher than the previous year.
